Quick Tipp - blending in

We Americans know we have a pretty lousy stigma at the moment throughout the world, and in Germany its not much different. That’s why we sew Canadian flags on our backpacks to try to be more accepted abroad.

Another way to try to slip under the radar is to make sure you leave your white socks at home. While its not really cool in America, it is an absolute no no in Germany.

I’m wearing white socks almost all the time, but I’ve been to the us for a high school year so I might not count.

However I do notice that many of the tings you bring up doesn’t apply to my generation or at least the people I know (I’m 19) - maybe we are developing away from these stereotypes?

Sure, white socks are fine now…

Most of these fashion codes only apply to grown-ups. Students, be it Highschool or College, have their own way of dressing which quickly changes as soon as they start working.

White socks with dark trousers and shoes just looks awful.

There are grey and black tube-socks available, too. No reason to go white.
