Perhaps "Wurst in Taschen" (like "Würstchen im Schlafrock"), i. e. something quite similar to hot dogs?

I still don't understand what "Wurst-N-Taschen" are supposed to be. (I'm German, BTW)

OMFG, what a great website. Even when the author is making fun of the germans (and i am a german) i love to read the site as it shows so much of the stereotypes about us.

Would be a nice idea to make a Website of a german view on the americans. I bet they would like it too ;-)

Being German, I of course have to complain about the spelling of "Spasz". If there are no special characters available (or when using upper caps), it should be spelled "Spass". "sz" should only be used to replace the "sharp s" if the meaning might be unclear, e.g. "Masse" vs. "Masze". If you're typing on a Mac, try alt-s - yes, even on a US keyboard!. In HTML, use &szlig (followed by a ; - I just didn't want it to show up as a scharfes S now).

This here is just too funny for not sharing it with you! Apparently, Americans are not anymore the only ones copying the German Oktoberfest. GERMANS also have begun copying the Oktoberfest!

http://www.zeit.de/2010/37/Deutschlandkarte-Oktoberfeste

The following observations can be made:
- Apart from very few examples in the biggest cities (and the ORIGINAL fest in Munich itself, of course), this seems to be a very recent phenomenon. So when a German told you once that the Oktoberfest is a strange Bavarian thing, having nothing to do with the rest of the country: No, he didn't lie to you out of embarassment or something. ;-)
- It seems that Schleswig-Holstein, the most northern federal state, is the only one without an Oktoberfest.
- The ORIGINAL Munich Oktoberfest apparently works like an equally charged magnetic pole towards other Oktoberfests: There are almost no other ones in Bavaria!
- For those who can't read German: The accompanying text says that there are also no Oktoberfests in Swabia, because they already have the Cannstädter Wasen there.

ROTFL! To me (being a Bavarian native from Munich and well familiar with the real Oktoberfest since childhood) this was absolutely hilarious, because I never expected it to be authentic at all, quite the opposite, and that's the real fun. I know the expression "sells like hotcakes" very well, too, so the joke was definitely NOT lost on me. ;) I also guessed that the "chicken dance" is the same as the Ententanz (in fact, I seem to have encountered the chicken dance before somewhere). I'm sure I'd have a ball at that "Wurstfest"!

"Wurst-N-Taschen", that's fantastic.

BTW, the sausage on a stick looks wrong somehow. I mean, the shape ... uhhh ... :D

I can only call this a "Wurst-Käse-Szenario"!

Priceless comments, great job everyone. I'd say you made my day or rather night but I've had a lot fun reading the blog already before this (especially with the Wiesn-Wasn-Vergleich - LOL!), this was just the icing on the cake!
